Your First Appointment

• New patients are asked to attend 10-15 mins before their appointment time to complete registration details.

• Please ensure that you bring with you any scans, x-rays or other investigations that you have had previously.

• On arrival you will asked to complete a registration form and given a copy of our patient contract to read and sign.

• A full history will be taken by the consultant.

• An examination will usually be performed.  You will be invited to change in privacy.

• Verbal consent will be obtained prior to performing any examination and a chaperone is always available.  Your husband or partner may also be present if you wish.

• After the examination you will be able to change back into your normal clothes in privacy before the consultation is resumed in the consultation room and the findings discussed.

• Where necessary further investigations are indicated, the reasons will be explained and appropriate arrangements made for a follow up appointment after the investigations have been performed.

• If a diagnosis is reached and treatment is required the patient will be told of the diagnosis and the aim of treatment.  Any alternative management options will be discussed and written information will be provided.

• A further consultation will be organised for the purpose of obtaining consent prior to any operative procedure.
